The Bakersfield Community Concert Association has been showcasing excellent talent since 1963.

Recently we enjoyed the music of The George Kahn Jazz and Blues Revue. As I helped the audience with their CD purchases after the show, a majority of folks said “This is the best act I’ve seen in the last 30 years. Please get them back soon.”

We immediately put them on our schedule for next season.

They appeal to all ages and all musical tastes. Songs of the ’30s, ‘40s through the ‘60s and ‘70s with excellent arrangements left everyone pleased.

When a musical group has a great female singer, the audience is entertained. But, when a group, like The George Kahn Jazz and Blues Revue has THREE great female singers, the audience is left in awe.

I heartily recommend this group for your audience.

The GEORGE KAHN JAZZ & BLUES "SASS 'N' SOUL" WORLD TOUR gets under way this month with a performance sponsired by the Bakersfield Community Concert Association at the Rabobank Theater, 1001 Truxton Ave., Bakersfield, CA on next Sunday, January 11. 

 Please join George, Gina, Courtney and Crystal, and the JAZZ & BLUES REVUE as we bring Jazz and Blues alive in Bakersfield!

PATH Ventures Holiday Jazz & Blues Revue at Catalina's in Hollywood, CA. raises $30,000 for the Homeless

On Wednesday, December 10th, 2014 PATH Ventures hosted their 9th Annual Holiday Jazz Revue, an unforgettable evening of dinner, music, and fun at the classic Catalina Bar and Grill. The event featured Jazz Pianist and Composer, GEORGE KAHN

 with the JAZZ & BLUES REVUE.

Jazz legend Bubba Jackson from KJAZZ, once again joined us as the MC. 

This annual fund-raising event gives people a chance to support PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) by donating to PATH Ventures, a division of the charity that builds permanent housing for the homeless in Los Angeles. Veterans, single parents and others in desperate need of housing are all assisted through your generosity.

With your help, we raised almost $30,000 at this years event - THANK YOU!

Jazz Pianist George Kahn felt his fans were ready for a change, so he formed the Jazz & Blues Revue.  More than just another jazz ensemble this time around, the Jazz & Blues Revue brings three of the best singers in Los Angeles together to perform unique arrangements of jazz standards along with other well-known songs, in a wonderful blend of Jazz, R&B and Soul.

The album has 13 new, creative arrangements of jazz and blues standards like Cantaloupe Island, Rock Me Baby, Beat Me Daddy Eight To The Bar, God Bless The Child, Summertime and Afro Blue.

 

Singer Courtney Lemmon has appeared on several of George’s albums and most recently released her debut CD “STAY WITH ME”, teaming her with Grammy Award winning Producer Michael Acosta.  Gina Saputo was among seven musicians chosen by Herbie Hancock, Terence Blanchard, and Wayne Shorter to study at the Thelonius Monk Institute. She performs regularly and also teaches singing at the Musicians Institute.  Crystal Starr has performed as a backup singer for Ariana Grande, as well as legendary greats Smokey Robinson, John Legend and Joss Stone.  She recently performed on Broadway in “Baby It’s You!”.

Renowned musicians Eric Marienthal (Sax), Dr. Bobby Rodriguez (trumpet),  Lyman Medeiros (Bass) and M. B. Gordy (Drums/Percussion) are featured on the new album,  along with Special Guests, Pat Kelley on Guitar and Chuck Manning on Sax.
